Bloodshot Featured At Chicago History Museum's Roots Music Exhibit

Bloodshot is honored to be included in the Chicago History Museum's "Chicago Roots Music" Exhibit, and to be featured (along with the Waco Brothers) in the upcoming episode of the PBS series American Roots Music, which will cover the exhibit and the history of Chicago folk, blues, gospel and country music. The Chicago History Museum describes the event:

"For more than a hundred years, 'Sweet Home Chicago' has been one of the music capitals of the world. Chicago is best known as a blues town, but the music doesn't end there. Chicago Roots Music explores the city’s ties to many different musical genres, from the well-known jazz, blues, and gospel styles that migrated here from the South to the folk music and country sounds enjoying a revival today.

The exhibition opens Saturday, November 11th, and the Chicago History Museum is located at 1601 N. Clark St. For more information, visit the exhibition's official site here. The documentary will be broadcast in the Chicago area on Thursday, November 16th on WTTW Ch. 11 at 9pm.

For more information about the PBS series and to find your local listings for the American Roots Music: Chicago documentary, visit the American Roots Music site here. The program features pioneers such as Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Prine, The Staple Singers among many many others. Jon Langford is featured in an interview, as well as appearing in a performance by the Waco Brothers.

Jon Langford speaks about Bloodshot's inclusion in the exhibit in this Chicago Sun-Times article.

Upcoming Shows with the Blacks, Dollar Store and Scroat Belly

We get the questions all the time. A Bloodshot band takes a break for an indeterminate amount of time and scurrilous rumors begin to spread..."Hey it's been X years since I saw Band Y play...are they broken up? When the hell will they play again?" Well over here at Bloodshot, bands never truly call it quits, they just go into hibernation like the wily and fearsome beasts they are. All the same, we know our loyal Bloodshot fans will be elated by the opportunity to see Bloodshot faves the Blacks, Dollar Store and the wildly divisive Scroat Belly return to the stage at these upcoming shows:

The Blacks perform at the Hideout in Chicago on Friday, November 17th

Dollar Store perform at the Hideout in Chicago on Saturday, November 25th with Kelly Hogan

Graham Parker's 103 Degrees in June Now Available!

Graham Parker's new live release 103 Degrees in June is now available exclusively online! A limited-edition run of 2000 copies signed and numbered by Graham, the CD is only available through the Bloodshot Online store or for digital download through iTunes and eMusic.

Recorded in Chicago in 2005, 103 Degrees in June documents one of those nights when the music takes over, when the crowd and the band feed off one another and no one minds being soaked to the skin. Hot? Hell yes, it was hot. GP and the boys were in top form from their tour and they tore through killer versions of songs covering the length of his legendary career, including his recent BS release Songs of No Consequence. It was an exhilarating night, a transporting night. When it was over, the floor was slick with sweat and beer, and the heat rose in waves and stung your eyes.
